Tempo Growth Tools
User guide
Tempo groups the Storefront Tools currently available to each store around conversion, bundles and discounts, product recommendations, cart incentives, promotions, shopper confidence and storefront utilities. Availability may change during a controlled rollout; the tools shown inside your Tempo workspace are the authoritative list for your store.
1. Start with the sales outcome
- Convert more product views: start with Sticky Add to Cart, Low Stock Alert, Sale Countdown, Product Badges or Recent Purchase Popups.
- Increase order value: use Product Bundles, Volume Discounts, Upsells, Cross-Sells, Frequently Bought Together or Cart Rewards Goal.
- Remove buying barriers: add Size Guide, Delivery Estimate, Currency Converter, Product Information Tabs or Contact & Chat.
- Maintain checkout momentum: use Cart Message, Recently Viewed Products, Promo Bar, Promotional Popups or Spin-to-Win.
2. Choose and configure a tool
Open Storefront Tools, select a category, then choose Set up, Configure or + Add new. Campaign-capable tools can have several named configurations with independent settings and priority.
3. Use the production-faithful preview
Editors use the same storefront renderer as published campaigns. Switch between Desktop and Mobile, then test buttons, quantities, tabs, dialogs and forms. Cart changes, lead submissions and navigation are simulated in preview and do not change the live store.
4. Match the storefront theme
Visual tools default to Match store theme. Tempo reads the active storefront font, primary button colors, text and surface colors, form controls, borders and corner radius. Choose Custom styling when a campaign needs explicit overrides.
5. Configure storefront, visibility and targeting
Choose one or more storefront channels, or leave the selection empty to use all connected storefronts. Configure device, page type, product, category, brand, inventory, country, visitor, customer group and schedule conditions when the selected tool exposes them. Customer-group rules use BigCommerce's signed Current Customer verification rather than a copied customer list.
Country-based targeting and optional location detection use an approximate country lookup. When a matching feature requires it, the shopper's browser contacts ipapi.co; merchants should account for this provider in their storefront privacy notice.
6. Configure products, promotions and rewards
Product pickers search the connected BigCommerce catalog. Promotion-enabled tools can select existing automatic or coupon promotions. Volume Discounts can create and keep a dedicated automatic BigCommerce promotion synchronized with quantity tiers; disabling or deleting that campaign disables or removes its managed promotion.
7. Lead forms and shopper notices
Promotional Popups and Spin-to-Win can collect shopper email addresses for the merchant. Before enabling a lead form, add the notice, consent language and links required by the merchant's privacy and marketing rules. Tempo stores the submitted email, source page, campaign identifier, submission time and limited campaign metadata for the merchant.
8. Resolve multiple campaigns and app conflicts
When several campaigns of the same kind match a page, the highest matching priority wins. Tempo stacks sticky bars and corner widgets, queues its own modals, and waits while a visible modal from another storefront app is active.
9. Save and verify
Select Save settings to keep a draft or Save & enable to make it eligible for the live storefront. Use BigCommerce View storefront and test desktop, mobile, relevant products, cart state, a logged-in audience when applicable, and a private browser window.
10. Analytics when enabled
If Analytics is enabled for your store, the dashboard reports pseudonymous impressions, sessions, CTA clicks, goals, dismissals and controlled render errors. The essential renderer can operate without the Analytics-category script; analytics events are sent only when BigCommerce loads that script under the storefront's consent configuration.
11. BigCommerce permissions
- Content Modify is used for Tempo-owned Script Manager resources and an optional Page Builder template.
- Marketing Modify is used only for automatic promotions managed by Volume Discount campaigns.
- Products, Customers, Channel settings, Sites and Store information are read-only.
Troubleshooting
- If a tool is not visible, confirm it is enabled and that device, page, product, country, audience and schedule rules all match.
- If another campaign appears instead, compare their priorities and targeting.
- If an action depends on BigCommerce, verify product availability, variant requirements, coupons and OAuth scopes.
- If automatic theme matching is not appropriate for a special campaign, choose Custom styling and set explicit overrides.
